Jo runs various small cake decoration workshops and sugarcraft classes in Hawkeridge, Wiltshire throughout the year. There is a maximum of 6 people per class so you can be sure you will get all the attention you need. All equipment and materials are provided. ***GIFT VOUCHERS ARE AVAILABLE***

Always a very popular course. You will learn how to decorate cupcakes with a variety of piped buttercream flowers using both petal and Nifty Nozzles

Learn how to:

  • Hand pipe individual buttercream roses 
  • Hand piped daisies
  • Hand piped anenomies

  • Hand pipe buttercream peonies
  • Hand piped  buttercream leaves

Buttercream drip cake

You will learn how to level fill and cover a cake with buttercream to a smooth finish. You will then be shown how to make the perfect consistency ganache for a drip effect on your cake. And how to decorate the cake in various ways.

Spectacular Rose

 £50 Suitable for beginners.

 In this 2hr course you will learn how to create giant vintage style sugar roses and leaves. 

 Skills you will learn:

  • Working with florist paste
  • Rolling and shaping petals to get a realistic effect
  • Colouring 
  • Layering petals and flower make-up

 


Sharp Edge icing

£75 per person Suitable for beginners. 

Great for beginners or those wanting to learn the tricks of the trade of how make and use ganache as a base for the most perfectly iced cake. You will then learn how ice a cake with sugarpaste to create the enviable sharp edge. Why not do the rose course in the morning and receive 10% discount.

Lambeth style piping

Saturday 9th March 2024

£85 per person

9am-1pm 2 spaces remaining 

You will learn how to pipe bold lambeth style buttercream boarders using a variety of different piping nozzles. You will be provided with an iced cake dummy to decorate but if you wish to bring your own iced 6" real cake with you, you are most welcome. 

You will learn:

  • How to make and colour buttercream icing 
  • How to pipe shell boarders
  • How to pipe ruffle boarders
  • How to pipe swags and dots
  • How to pipe scrolls
  • How to pipe basic buttercream flowers

 

Chocolate wrap cake and chocolate

£100 Suitable for beginners.

You will learn how to make ganache. Then fill and cover chocolate cake with it. You will learn how to temper chocolate (melt without causing chocolate to bloom) I will then show you how wrap the chocolate around the cake for a truly sumptuous finish. We will make hand rolled chocolate truffles and dip these in tempered chocolate then decorate with piped chocolate designs. These will then be used to adorn the cake. You will be supplied with recipes and how to instructions to recreate the cake.

 Piping skills and royal icing

£85 per person Suitable for beginners. 

Piping is often a skill that people lack confidence in, it takes a bit of practice but once mastered it opens a whole new world of possibilities. In this class you will be shown how to prepare perfect royal icing. The class will first focus on practising piping skills and techniques. You will be given your own iced cake dummy that you will then decorate with a wide variety of piped decoration

Cute Carved Car Cake

You will learn how to carve a sponge cake fill, mask with buttercream and  ice. You will then be shown how to use a variety of techniques to decorate to create this whimsical cartoon car

  • Carving cakes

  • Icing a difficult shape with sugarpaste 
  • A variety of decorations with both florist paste and sugarpaste
  • Icing a board

   Wedding Cake Course

This course will cover a wide variety sugarcraft and cake decoration skills. You will learn how to marzipan, ice and decorate a 2 tier wedding cake with sugar flowers and a bride and groom model.

  • Wired sugar roses, lilies, jasmine and ruscus leaves
  • Taping sugar flowers into sprays and how to safely attach them to cakes
  • Modelling a bride and groom
  • How to marzipan and ice a cake
  • Stacking a 2 tier cake
  • How to improve and further your piping skills
  • How to improve and further your cake decoration and sugarcraft skills

 

Camper van cake: 

New dates to be announced

You will learn how to carve the cake into the iconic VW split screen camper van, fill and mask cake with buttercream, how to cover a shaped cake without cracks, tears or creases and how to decorate. You will learn how make and add accessories to the camper. We will also ice the cake board this will either be sand, grass or stones. I will show you how to achieve each different ground covering for you to choose from.

  • Carving to a specific shape how to apply this to other vehicles 
  • Layering and masking
  • Colouring
  • Icing a difficult shape with sugarpaste 
  • A variety of decorations with both florist paste and sugarpaste

Country garden flowers workshop: 

New dates to be announced £100 per person

You will learn how to make a variety of pretty summer blooms ideal for a wedding or special celebration cake. These will include a large old fashioned rose, hypericum berries, sweet peas, lisianthus and rose leaves.

  • Working with florist paste to create realist effects
  • Using moulds and cutters
  • shaping and layering petals
  • Wiring and taping sprays
