Jo runs various small cake decoration workshops and sugarcraft classes at her studio in Wiltshire throughout the year. There is a maximum of 4 people per class in her studio The 10 week evening classes have a maximum of 16 students.  Mini Christmas Bauble Cakes

15th December 2018 10am-4pm £85 per person Venue: The Fairy Cakery

You will be given ready baked and shown how to fill and ice your cakes. You will  learn how to decorate to represent Christmas baubles using a range of cutters and piping skill

You will learn:

  • how to fill and ice a sphere cake
  • how to apply shimmers
  • how to make a range of decorations 
  • piping skills
  • icing a cake board

 


10 week Beginners Sugarcraft

Monday evenings starting 14th January 2019 7pm-9pm  £130 Per person (spaces will be available from 1st Dec to allow for continuing students to enrol to register an interest email or phone me) Venue: The Nursteed Centre, Nursteed Rd, Devizes, Wiltshire, SN10 3AF.

This course will cover a wide variety sugarcraft skills you will learn how to create:

  • Wired daffodils, snowdrops, primroses, and leaves in a sugar flower pot
  • Ballerina model
  • brush embroidery rose
  • run out butterflies
  • ice a sponge cake and decorate with piped swags
  • Easter creme egg novelty animals -decorating a creme eggs to look like a chick, bunny and lamb

 

 


10 week Improvers Sugarcraft classes 

Starting Tuesday evenings 15th January 2019  7pm-9pm

Spectacular Roses

 Sat  13th January 2019 10am-12pm £35. Suitable for beginners. Venue: The Fairy Cakery

 In this 2hr course you will learn how to create giant vintage style sugar roses and leaves. Why not stay for the afternoon too and book the sharp edge course below to create a cake to display your rose and receive 10% discount.

  • Rolling and shaping petals to get a realistic effect

Sharp Edge Icing

Sat 13th January 2019 12.30-3.30pm Suitable for beginners. Venue: The Fairy Cakery

Great for beginners or those wanting to learn the tricks of the trade of how make and use ganache as a base for the most perfectly iced cake. You will then learn how ice a cake with sugarpaste to create the enviable sharp edge. Why not do the rose course in the morning and receive 10% discount.

Camper van cake: 

Sat 19th January 9am-5pm £100 per person ***1 SPACE REMAINING suitable for improvers*** Venue: The Fairy Cakery

You will learn how to carve the cake into the iconic VW split screen camper van, fill and mask cake with buttercream, how to cover a shaped cake without cracks, tears or creases and how to decorate. You will learn how make and add accessories to the camper. We will also ice the cake board this will either be sand, grass or stones. I will show you how to achieve each different ground covering for you to choose from.

Skills you will learn:

  • Carving to a specific shape how to apply this to other vehicles 
  • Layering and masking
  • Colouring
  • Icing a difficult shape with sugarpaste 
  • A variety of decorations with both florist paste and sugarpaste
  • Icing a board

 Piping skills and royal icing 

26th January 2019 10am-4pm £75 per person Suitable for beginners. Venue: The Fairy Cakery

Piping is often a skill that people lack confidence in, it takes a bit of practice but once mastered it opens a whole new world of possibilities. In this class you will be shown how to prepare perfect royal icing. The class will first focus on practising piping skills and techniques. You will be given your own iced cake dummy that you will then decorate with a wide variety of piped decoration

  • Piped filigree lace
  • Piped plain shell boarder
  • brush embroidery
  • Piping an inscription

 

 


Chocolate wrap cake and chocolate truffles:  

Sat 9th February 2019 10am-4pm £80 per person. Suitable for beginners. Venue: The Fairy Cakery

You will learn how to make ganache. Then fill and cover chocolate cake with it. You will learn how to temper chocolate (melt without causing chocolate to bloom) I will then show you how wrap the chocolate around the cake for a truly sumptuous finish. We will make hand rolled chocolate truffles and dip these in tempered chocolate then decorate with piped chocolate designs. These will then be used to adorn the cake. You will be supplied with recipes and how to instructions to recreate the cake.

2 Tier Geode Cake

9th March 2019 10am-4pm £100 per person. Improvers Venue: The Fairy Cakery

Learn how to layer, carve, ganache and ice cakes creating a sharp edge. You will learn how to create a marbling effect and stack 2 tiers. You will then be shown how work with isomalts to decorate the cake to create a geode effect.

Country garden flowers workshop: 

16th March 2019 9am-5pm £100 per person. Suitable for improvers. Venue: The Fairy Cakery

You will learn how to make a variety of pretty summer blooms ideal for a wedding or special celebration cake. These will include a large old fashioned rose, hypericum berries, sweet peas, lisianthus and rose leaves.

Skills you will learn:

  • Working with florist paste to create realist effects
  • Using moulds and cutters
  • shaping and layering petals
  • Wiring and taping sprays
  • Dusting and glazing

 


Cute Carved Car Cake

You will learn how to carve a sponge cake fill, mask with buttercream and  ice. You will then be shown how to use a variety of techniques to decorate to create this whimsical cartoon car
